Sailor Shorts - Sandnes Garn
For summer, our children need lightweight, practical, and comfortable clothes. That's why we fell for the Sailor Shorts from Sandnes Garn . Knitted in the same brand's Line quality (and also designed for this superb yarn), the Sailor Shorts are a superb basic to add to your children's wardrobe!
The pattern is available in catalog #2306 - Summer Knit for Kids by Sandnes Garn . The magazine is in English, but if you're not used to it, these are good patterns to get you started! The patterns are easy to follow and the projects are simple to construct. And if you need help, we're available to help our customers (only)!
Our tips for fewer seams on Sailor Shorts:
• Knit the i-cord first
• On the last row of the recommended length knitted after the folding row, fold the flap inwards and attach it by knitting this last row, picking up a stitch in each stitch opposite on the cast-on row, then placing the picked-up stitch on the left needle and knitting the two stitches (picked up + normal) together. You can start inserting the i-cord after working half of the shorts and then keep it inside for the rest of the work.
• Make your cast-on row in 4.5 mm in order to have good flexibility and good visibility of the cast-on stitches for assembling the flap.
Attention
When separating the legs, start casting off at the end of the last round of the increase rows.
General tips
- Add seam elastic to the waist flap for extra support.
- Leg length +1 cm to make it last 1 or 2 more summers!
- 4.5 mm folded leg bottoms for a soft flap and easier sewing.
